You Are a BadassI love this quote:

“Maybe, if you put your disbelief aside, roll up your sleeves, take some risks, and totally go for it, you’ll wake up one day and realize you’re living the kind of life you used to be jealous.”
― Jen SinceroYou Are a Badass

We bring about what we think about. And your powerful thoughts led you to following that creative little voice inside your head (and heart) to get going and pursue your dream of Voice Acting. So many people I’ve mentored along the way have said, “I’ve wanted to do this forever! I’ve driven past your studio for like… two years!” (Some even longer)! Or, “I finally, finally gave myself permission to take the plunge!” Well, we’ve been waiting for you, so we’re glad you finally showed up!

Who we are and how we see the world really shows up in our performances. The better we know ourselves, and I believe, the more we love ourselves, the better we can be at what we do. Honesty, trustworthiness, connection, believability, & authenticity. These are constant attributes requested by the people who are hiring us to bring forth to their projects, and eventually their listeners. We paint a vocal picture based on our perspective. That’s one of my favorite things about VO. How I perceive and tell a story is unique to me and who I am. The same is true for you. It’s not just the ‘sound’ of our voices that get us booked! It’s how the story gets interpreted, digested and then delivered. And that, my friends, is SO important to understand!

I recently listened to an audio book entitled, “You Are a Badass.” It was filled with so many great nuggets of wisdom, many of which are already solid parts of my daily practice. But good reminders never hurt. In addition to the many great reminders, so many of this book’s teachings made me think of YOU, my incredible students. I hear many of you experiencing self-doubt in certain areas of your craft, and also just in general toward your end goal of becoming a pro Voice Actor. I’m here to remind you, you’ve got this. Self-love, self-care, and replacing any negative internal chatter with a ‘Hell yeah! I got this’ is just gonna help ya as you continue to move forward in voice acting and life in general! I enjoyed this audiobook so much, I’m listening to it for a second time! Yep. I was sad when it ended. 😉

So, how do you see the world? How is your internal dialogue about your VO journey or life in general sounding? #stop #spotcheck
Even though “I’m Quite Possibly the Happiest Person On Earth,” I still had room to adjust my sails. 😉

I share this because I care about you. I share this because Jen Sincero, the writer and narrator, is funny, witty, honest, and engaging. I share this because the best things in life are always that much better when you share them.

YOU are a VO BADASS. 😉
