The Voice Actors Studio gave me much more than a career. It gave me a mentor, a community of friends and something to strive for. The workshops are fun and make learning easy, from the Beginner’s Course, to On-going VO Workshops, to the advanced Pro classes . They are always challenging me to stretch, strengthen and refine my voice, continually sharpening my craft. They also cover every aspect of the business side of VO, from editing, marketing and even “Special Guest Teachers “ who regularly come in. It’s great to learn from people who are top, working Voice Actors in their niche like character, narration, eLearning, production, sound engineering and so on. Melissa Moats and her awesome staff of professionals took me under their wings and have given me all the resources and support needed for me to become a working, professional voice actor. Melissa’s deep passion for Voice Over and teaching is infectious and she continues spread the joy of VO everywhere she goes!”
Christopher Voors

Melissa and the staff at TVAS are amazing! They not only teach you proper VO techniques, but they also give you the tools you need to survive and thrive in the business of VO. I’m successfully booking voice gigs on a regular basis and I couldn’t have done it without TVAS.”

I moved to Vegas from Chicago in 2015. I had made a beginning in the industry a few years ago, and prayed there was a coach here that would help me get back on track. I found her: Melissa Moats. When I first met Melissa, she gave me a big welcoming hug, and I said “no way is this girl really that nice”. But she is. She’s humble, caring and Nutra-sweet, but she is a voice-over dynamo, doing heavyweight national campaigns. And she really LOVES voiceover! This was where I needed to be.

I’ll try to keep it short. I thought I would take 4 classes, and that would be enough. Nope, this doesn’t happen overnight. In addition to getting lots of time “on the mic”, Melissa, and her husband, Troy make sure we know EVERYTHING about the business. In addition to the regular Ongoing Classes (my favorite), they have Specialty Classes; everything from how to find clients, agents, billing, and a great class with Troy, a marketing whiz. “TVAS” has a roster of super-talented coaches, and periodically, nationally-known experts in the industry that come from all over to teach as well. I get a golden takeway from every class. Amazing.

Not to brag, but this is what training at The Voice Actors Studio has done for me: I am a working voice actor – I make money. I am signed with multiple agents. I know how to go after new business on my own, and have a roster of clients. I have radio and TV commercials on my resume, and I get major-studio auditions from a manager in L.A. But….I still go to classes here regularly after two years. Why? Because if you go to the dentist year after year, you want to make sure she has the latest technology to make your visit as painless as possible. I keep training with these pros at TVAS, because this industry changes, and Melissa changes with it. I want to make sure my clients get quality work, and it is completed as seamlessly and painlessly as possible.

I’ve personally dubbed The Voice Actors Studio “The Mothership”, because it’s a home base; the headquarters for voice actors from all over the world to come and get invaluable knowledge, recharge your VO battery, have a snack and chat with those who are like-minded. We are very blessed to have Melissa and Troy in the voiceover community.”

Melissa Moats, where to begin? She, almost singlehandedly, has put the Las Vegas voiceover community on the map nationally. She’s responsible for more great talent coming out of this town than anyone I can think of and I’m speaking from my position as not only a talent she has produced but also as the owner of The Dog and Pony Show, a Grammy award winning creative post audio studio that utilizes Melissa’s graduates on a regular basis. There are only a handful of people in this business who you can trust to develop your talent as a VO artist, Melissa is one of the best of those few.”
John McClain (Dog and Pony Studios)

Melissa Moats is tops at creating a safe and supportive environment for voice actors to work with their peers and get immediate, open, constructive feedback. Supplement that with Moats’ deep well of knowledge, practical experience, and coaching know-how, and you’ve got the perfect formula for growth. Just think what she could do for you?!
Dave Courvoisier

Melissa is not only a wonderful teacher with a career’s worth of invaluable, practical experience, which she imparts on all of her students, she is also incredibly positive, encouraging and gets you excited about the world of VO. After training with her, I feel confident that I have the tools to land job after job. In fact, I landed my first job before my demos were even distributed!”
Jeff Leibow (Jersey Boys)

As an audio producer, I am always looking for talent that can bring copy to life. That means having a voice actor who can interpret the written word with genuineness and depth. Melissa Moats is such a person. She has been voicing TV, radio and other projects for me since 2001. Every recording session with her yields terrific interpretation.

I am not surprised to see Melissa’s great success as a voice-over teacher. Her deep understanding of the process, from start to finish, has made her a magnet for aspiring voice actors. I have attended some of her workshops, as a speaker and observer. The enthusiasm of her students is a direct reflection of her passion for teaching voice-over. She nurtures talent and brings out the very best in her students.

All in all, if I could sum up Melissa, it would be that she is a voice-over “force of nature”. She lives and breathes voice-over. As a talent she gives you 110%. As a teacher and talent mentor, she’s unrivaled. She arms her students with all the tools needed for voice-over success. I often use Melissa as a casting resource and have hired many of her students for vo projects.

Before I met Melissa and Troy, I was “doing” voice over, but it was more like taking shots in the dark. I would audition on the “pay-to-play” sites and had a modicum of success (if I could really call it that), but I didn’t understand why I booked one gig and not the other. I didn’t know what my “sound” was in terms of voiceover, so I basically auditioned for everything.

Melissa helped me hone my voice, my focus, and my ability. She taught me that different kinds of voiceover jobs had different “formulas”, and once those formulas where understood and mastered, my odds of booking the job increased dramatically. In a nutshell, Melissa taught me how to BE the competition, instead of fearing the competition.

Troy taught me perhaps the most valuable lesson an artist can learn: marketing. In one class with Troy, I learned a new way of thinking about VO jobs, where to look for opportunities, and how to get in front of decision makers. That ONE class with Troy (which he rarely teaches) revolutionized my thinking and my overall approach. The result was that my VO income skyrocketed and has consistently risen week after week, month after month, and year after year. My accountant still can’t believe the income I’ve generated and the lack of overhead I have. In a word, it’s been remarkable.

Aside from all the technique and support, I’ve been given an opportunity to live a lifestyle that is 100% self-created and sustained. It’s freedom from the old paradigm of “slave, save, retire” and working for someone else. There is no longer a cap to my earning potential and I am my only limitation.

If you’ve ever considered stepping behind a microphone and making a career out of voice acting, The Voice Actors Studio is the place to start. I sincerely doubt there’s any other place in the country like it. The knowledge, the support, and the community here are an unrivaled microcosm in the VO universe, and Melissa and Troy are at it’s center, and I am eternally grateful.

I remember my first class. Excited? Sure! Nervous as hell? You bet! But the second I walked in, Melissa and Troy put me at ease (as did the rest of the class!). Easily some of the nicest people in existence and EXTREMELY knowledgable about the industry! Everything was explained in laymen terms, and everything came with personalized feedback to make sure we could each improve in our own way!

That was 3 years ago. I’ve since attended hundreds of classes/workshops, improved my skills, confidence and knowledge! I have a professional demo, a home studio and a steadily growing list of clients, ALL because of the training and ongoing support from Melissa and Troy! I owe so much to these guys!!!

It can be hard work, but it’s worth it, and these guys will help you develop all the skills you need to be a success! You just need to put the effort in!
Duncan White “The British Guy”, Voice Actor

My journey into the creative world of becoming a voice actor has been in an organic manner – allowing me to grow at my own pace, receiving the full support of professional guidance in both artistry and marketing from Melissa and Troy and the Vegas Voicers, as I self-assessed my readiness. As a classical educator of more than 30 years – where curriculum leads the learning curve – I know that a ‘lesson plan’ can be crucial, but I have enjoyed writing my own learning plan and look forward to a very enjoyable future in this performing art!

I’ve been a full time voice actor since 2005 and have known Melissa Moats since 2012. She’s a beacon in the Las Vegas Valley. She is an amazing voice actor, coach and person. When I saw what she’d done for her students, I asked her to make my new commercial demo. It’s awesome! Since then I’ve gained representation in several new markets and am booking a lot more jobs. Proof that she’s a star in and out of the booth. Working with Troy Moats on my marketing and business has exponentially upped my game. They are the voiceover power couple!”
Dustin Ebaugh, Voice Actor

I’m a British Voice Actor who started my voice acting career in September 2012 with Melissa Moats based in Henderson, Nevada. I joined Melissa’s group beginner’s class and I have to say it was the best thing I have ever done. Melissa is such a breath of fresh air…not only is she an amazing voice actor herself; she is also the warmest, kindest and positive person I know. Her style of teaching is like none I’ve ever come across. She loves to share her knowledge as much as possible, whilst still keeping it real. Not only does she nurture her students and brings out the best in them, but offers them real opportunities to grow in the business by opening up doors with local producers, recording studios and casting directors from all over the USA.

After about 7-8 months of group and one to one sessions with Melissa, she agreed I was ready to cut my demo. Melissa has such great talent when it comes to choosing the right copy for your voice and the industry. As I’m British in the USA, she picked spots that would appeal to both markets, the UK and the USA and the postproduction was second to none! It was up to date, relevant and most of all, showed off my voice acting capabilities to their fullest. The best testimonial I can ever give, is that I’m now coming up to my second year of working as a voice actor FULL TIME and would not have been able to do this without the guidance, laughter and continuous support of both Melissa and Troy. Thank you both, for making my dreams come true!

My experience with Melissa Moats has been nothing but exceptional. Since day one she has given me all the tools I need to move forward in my career as a voiceover professional. Her coaching is always spot on, and she help’s you bring out what you didn’t even know was there. Now, after having Melissa’s guidance, I am booking gig’s for companies like Sea World and Corporate Event’s like CES 2015. As a person Melissa is by far one of the most genuine people I have ever met and is eager and willing to contribute to your success. I am so grateful for her as Coach, Friend and Mentor.

Meeting Melissa Moats was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I always had a dream of voicing a cartoon character. But, where do I go? How do I get started? Melissa helped me figure all that out. She held workshops and taught us things like: how to a read script, what the mood was, and who and what we were selling. It helped that she was a working Voice Talent who knows the business well. Once I was ready, she produced my Commercial Demo. The first day I put my demo online, I booked a job! I was so happy, she was the first person I called! Since then, I book regularly, working with clients like Highlights Magazine, Fanta Soda, and Glitzi Globes from Moose Toys. Melissa is the best person to work with in Las Vegas. She’s up to date, helpful, and helps give you the tools you need to succeed as a Voice Talent. I highly recommend anyone who’s interested!
