Keep Calm and Audition On

August 24, 2018 By Melissa Moats Leave a Comment

Uh, yeah. Auditioning can totally mess with our minds. We’re so determined to get those bookings! One crucial thing to remember… The voice over business is about selection not rejection. You won’t be right for every project that lands in your inbox. But you will be perfect for MANY!

Jacked Up: Advice on Advice

August 24, 2018 By Jack de Golia Leave a Comment

One of the things about VO is that nobody’s experience (AKA “the journey”) is quite the same as anybody else’s. Two people can sign up at the same pay-to-play site, for example, put up essentially similar demos, and do everything like each other, and one will succeed and the other won’t book anything.

Each voice resonates with each client in a unique way, often having more to do with the client’s current situation than the talent’s. That said, the trick in VO is figuring what piece of the advice you get from a given voice actor actually makes sense for you.

A Guided Meditation for the Voice Actor

August 10, 2018 By Melissa Moats Leave a Comment

I’m just a gal on a journey of her own. I love every minute of voicing, mentoring and sharing. Another thing I love to do is write. I have something special I created, blending all of my passions together. I wrote and narrated a guided meditation specifically for the voice over actor. It’s meant to inspire.

I believe in the power of visualization. I’ve applied it to all areas of my life, and feel that it’s been instrumental in my success as a voice over actor. As a mentor to many, and your friend in the voice over industry, I wrote this guided meditation out of love. I hope to help you see what you’re asking for more clearly. The more detailed and focused we are with our goals the better. I hope you find this to be a relaxing, thoughtful resource, and a helpful tool on your unique voice over journey. Wishing you much success. Namaste!
