“Shake the Snowglobe” Improv with Go Voices Josh Miller
Date: Friday, August 7th, 6:30pm-9:30pm | Cost: $139
The art of listening… of taking chances… of letting go. That’s Improv. People who aren’t as familiar with Improv often think of it as “having to be funny,” and that’s not quite how Improv is defined. Voice actors interpret copy each day and really need a strong grasp on what it means to not overthink their copy AND how to get out of their own way. Learning how to flex your improv muscles, becoming a good listener, and how to trust your instincts are all a huge part of mastering the art of Improv and becoming a better equipped voice actor. Learning how to apply Improv to your reads can be wildly fun, and at TVAS it’s a whole new level of learning and laughter! Being in a positive setting filled with encouragement and other talent who are learning to trust themselves too makes for an opportunity to grow and have a really great time! Add our special guest coach, VO agent Josh Miller of Go Voices to all of that, and Voila! Improv at it’s finest.
Our brains are built to guide us, but sometimes they guide us down paths we weren’t ready to take (That last take was terrible! Did I incorporate ANY of those directions? This engineer must think I’m an idiot!) and we need to find our way out and through to a more productive place and head-space to create our best. Sometimes we do that by leaning on a familiar and well-worn tool in our easy-to-reach belt, like that character voice you’ve used in nine too many sessions now. This workshop will help you take a short script and introduce some more high-temp/out-of-the-box solutions using Improv to shake the snowglobe of your brain! Don’t miss this Josh Miller’s spin on Improv techniques at TVAS!
